Hey Everyone!
Happy May Day!! It's beautiful out and it looks like we have a sunny week ahead - thank you, Lord!
I have a couple of things aside from gathering Summer Availability that I'm including in this email so please READ through it all and take note and/or mark your calendars as needed!
1) Please look ahead to your summer schedule and let me know when you are NOT available in June, July, and August. I'll need to hear back from you by May 15th in order to have you on rotation. That's 2 weeks from now, but again, please don't delay if at all possible. If you are "iffy" on certain dates, just include them as "not available" rather than holding out on returning your availability.
WEEKENDS TO NOTE: (Sound/Media too)
JUNE 16/17 (GoZone Takeover - no worship set on Sunday - practice with kids on Sat.)
JULY 21/22 (VBS Kickoff Sunday - acoustic set with 8:00am Sunday rehearsal)
JULY 28/29 (VBS Closing - no worship set, ALL VBS stuff)
AUG 18/19 (Teen Service - Dave will be in touch on Saturday rehearsal)
2) I'll be teaching a workshop on Wednesday nights during the month of June as part of our normal "Wednesday Workshops" that we do at Hope. You're all getting a little advance notice because the topic is on worship and I'd love for anyone involved in our worship ministry to attend! You'll see more info in Salt & Light and Hope Notes, plus the sign up sheets will start going out this Sunday or the following, but the book we're going to pull from is called "Holy Roar" by Darren Whitehead and Chris Tomlin. This workshop will be open to anyone, but is definitely something all of those in leading worship roles would benefit from....tech people through stage team! Keep that in mind and look for the opportunity to sign up if the Lord opens that door for you!
3) As a reminder and if you haven't already, PLEASE mark your calendars now for our WORSHIP TEAM WORKSHOP on Saturday, September 8th. Like we've done in the past, that will be a one-day event but we've got lots of stuff to cover. I'll get the details out as we get closer, but plan on somewhere in the 9am - 3pm range, give or take. Breakfast and lunch will be included and coffee/drinks all day, of course! This is for EVERYONE who is currently involved (and I'll be including those exploring getting involved) from tech team to stage team. While we've done these workshops in the past, we're going to unpack some of my vision for the team, for rehearsals, preparation, changes in the vocal team, tech team, etc. so please make it a priority. I know I say this a lot, but if I could call it a "mandatory" meeting I would, but we're all volunteers so I can't exactly fire anyone, lol!
However, if you consider our worship ministy a main calling and passion of yours, please make every effort to be here so you are in the loop and can hear my heart as I share what I believe God is stirring up in our approach to Sunday morning worship. IF you already know that you can't attend due to vacation or something else unchangeable, PLEASE let me know asap. I'll have to follow up with anyone who is absent since what I'll be sharing affects everyone. Thanks in advance!
5) Check out the blogspot for some new songs we'll be introducing to the church - I'll be adding them today and making some notes on transposing, etc as necessary. For listening suggestions, I'm currently obsessed with the new album from Hillsong called "There Is More" -- SO good! Also, Elevation Worship called "There Is A Cloud" has some great songs...my favorite right now is "Do It Again". Make a playlist on your Spotify, download to your Apple music, or go buy the CD's! You'll see some of these songs are ones we're introducing, so you'll have a head start!
I'll be expecting to hear back on availability over the next couple of weeks and I'm praying for each of you and all that God has in front of you today! Let me know if you need anything or I can help you in any way!
